For those of you who have not decided who to vote for, have a watch of the Resilience Web Hustings
If you can help cover the outstanding costs of the event…
…please donate via the link here.
There is a wider conversation that Cambridge needs to have about organising, hosting, and funding the public debates between candidates for elections. Because the current ad-hoc arrangements are not working and have not been working for a number of years.
Finding more about the candidates
Once you’ve watched the video – or even just the first set of responses to hear the candidates in their own voices, feel free to put any questions to your candidates via https://whocanivotefor.co.uk/ <<– Type in your postcode in the box that comes up from this link and the candidates standing where you live will come up, along with their social media contacts.

- The list of mayoral candidates is here
- An unofficial list of manifestos via Democracy Classroom is here
- The official mayoral elections’ booklet is here – Parliament having legislated for such a publication for mayoral elections but *not* for any other elections – even the general election.

Candidates on the radio:
Julian Clover of Cambridge Radio – who many of you know from previous election hustings in Cambridge, interviewed the candidates as follows:
- Conservative and ReformUK on 27 Apr 2025
- Labour and Greens on 06 April 2025
- Liberal Democrats on 02 March 2025
Candidates on the BBC:
You can watch the short reels from BBC Cambridgeshire here (click and scroll down), where candidates were given around 60 seconds to make their case.

Above – the candidates, and also a brief explainer on what the Mayor is responsible for (click and scroll down)
Cambridgeshire County Council elections
I’ve got nothing new to add beyond what I’ve already posted here with the lists of candidates.
Therefore, same applies: Go to https://whocanivotefor.co.uk/ and email the candidates standing in your area with any questions you have.
“The two students running in the County Council elections in Cambridge on May 1 are both members of the Green Party. Among the staff members, three are Labour members and two are Greens.”
From Varsity UK – 25 April 2025
The candidates with Cambridge University links are profiled in Varsity above.
For those of you still wondering what the mayoralty is and why we have them, challenge the candidates to make the case for it. https://whocanivotefor.co.uk/ Because if you don’t ask, you don’t get. (Also, how else are the candidates supposed to know what your concerns are?)
Food for thought?
If you are interested in the longer term future of Cambridge, and on what happens at the local democracy meetings where decisions are made, feel free to:
