Workshops

With so many consultations taking place and so many reports needing to be scrutinised, I continue to host discussion events at neighbourhood level in and around Cambridge to enable groups of residents to learn the essentials and to explore in depth particular issues that the proposals we’re scrutinising raise.

The next event
The Future of Cambridge

The Minister for Housing has announced his intention to establish a centrally-led development corporation for Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire District.

Consultation packs

With the support of the Queen Edith’s Community Forum (which covers a big neighbourhood in South Cambridge that is north of Addenbrooke’s), I will be running a series of workshops enabling residents to discuss the proposals published with each other, and to find out how to make representations.

This event is free to attend but I am inviting donations to help cover my printing-of-documents and maps costs, which participants can take away with them. (I don’t want anyone to be priced out of participating).

Past events

The first pilot event took place on Sat 30 Sept 2023 at Rock Road Library. Six people had signed up by the day of the event, and fourteen turned up – more than double what I was expecting! (A pleasant surprise!)

With thanks to Cllr Stephen Ferguson (Ind – St Neots East), former Mayor of St Neots and also recently the Chairman of Cambridgeshire County Council for this review of the session on 26 October 2023

Do you want me to bring a selection of books on politics and government, or on Cambridge local history, for you to take away at the end of each workshop?

Above – a selection of some of the books that might be in the crate – depending on who gets what first!

Can’t make it but would like to go to a future workshop?

You can:

  • Leave a comment on The Cambridge Town Owl on F-Book
  • Email me antonycarpen [at[ gmail [dot] com
  • If you are a member of a constituted community or local campaign group, or a residents’ association (See FeCRA here to see if you have one where you live), invite one of the constituted officers to get in touch with me and we can see if we can arrange one in a community centre, library, or other publicly-accessible venue in your part of our city.

Thank you for reading!
