Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire candidates go head-2-head

The BBC Radio Cambridgeshire recordings will be available for the next 3-4 weeks

Plus we also had the annual recording of the Queen Edith’s hustings which, due to event clashes meant it was a ‘set up and record’ operation, along with the regular appearance of the noisy nestlings which you can hear in the background!

Also, Sid Moon from the Cambridge Daily News of Bonfire Night 1932 had this advice

– in the days when local elections were in November! (This from the Cambridgeshire Collection’s microfiche collection)

Unfortunately only three candidates participated in the Queen Edith’s hustings:

The other two candidates did not respond to requests from the Queen Edith’s Community Forum for candidates’ statements (you can read them here – scroll down) nor did they choose to participate in the hustings.

Wider local elections in various but not all parts of England

The Institute for Government has summarised which places are going to the polls

Find your candidates

Put your postcode into https://whocanivotefor.co.uk/ and see if you have got elections where you live. Candidate details come back up – thanks to the hard work from Democracy Club volunteers and also those candidates alert enough to provide extra information including social media pages and video links.

What questions do you have for your candidates?

Also, what might you be willing to do (small one-off action or a small behaviour change) to help improve things in your area and get more people involved in community life? Why not put those questions to the candidates standing in your area? See who gets back and compare the responses.

Make your predictions!

Phil Rodgers is running his annual prediction competition – see https://philrodgers.wordpress.com/2026/04/13/2026-election-prediction-competition/

Here were the results for and the winner of last year’s competition https://philrodgers.wordpress.com/2025/05/03/2025-election-prediction-results/
